We See Ourselves in the Passion (Homily)

The Passion is the greatest act of love that the world has ever seen. And we personally resonate with the various people on all sides of that narrative.
We are like:
Judas because we are self-involved and motivated by greed, power, and status.
Peter who betrays Jesus because it is easier to tell a lie than face the consequences of the truth.
the Apostles who simply ran away.
the Chief priests who refused to follow the Messiah when He arrived.
Pilate because we don't want to take responsibility.
Jesus because we hurt when people make false accusations against us.
Jesus who chose silence when he was doubted for living His Father's will.
Jesus when we are punished for our faith.
Jesus when we weep for our brothers and sisters who have been persecuted for their faith.
Christ in that we defend the faith against those who want to destroy it.
In this season of Lent, remember that you are stronger than you think. And that you have the ability to carry the true faith with you despite the betrayal of the body, the lies of the mind, and the pride that keeps us from embracing our crosses. So, change your own suffering into the truth, goodness, and beauty of the Lord!
